Every inhabited region of the world is experiencing the effects of climate change which is one of the three major drivers of hunger, alongside conflict and poverty. The number of weather-related disasters has increased five-fold over the past 50 years. In 2020, extreme weather contributed to most of the world’s food crises and was the primary cause of acute food insecurity in 15 countries. In 2021, WFP implemented climate risk management solutions in 37 countries, benefiting more than 12 million people.
